I have heard the news today about people who live in your city, Belmont, CA, whether they own a home or rent an apt. or condo cannot have the freedom of their choice to smoke. When is it going to stop? Till someone settles the score? The economy of your state is under IOU and you people of the state take smoking bans is more important. Well, you ask for your economy to go downhill. Tobacco farms is in the USA, and they are also part of the economy. Yes, they put stuff inside their cigs to make the taste, preserve it, and make the different brands. The very first tobacco smoked in this country was the Indian Tobacco. The Tobacco was used in ceremonies, treaties, and friendship among tribes and the new people. Now looking back at statistics of history, no native American died of cancer, died at an earlier age of due to smoking, chiefs grew to a very old age and the smoking never bothered them. So where are your statistics that all smoking causes cancer. What really causes cancer is the stuff that our smog industries put into the air, what the cars shoot out of their mufflers. That is more important to me, than just smoking. Next you are going to say insense burning causes lung cancer, it is smoke, so it must cause cancer. Then you will religions who uses them on your backs.
Also, you must understand, not everybody's body is the same, everyone is different, some to handle smoking, some cannot. So some is not everyone. Some have asthma, some do not. Some have cancer cells that they are born with, and some do not. Some can get cancer not even related to smoking, but yet it can be easily blamed for it.
Also keep in mind, private property is private, not public. If you pay rent, your property is private. If you own a home, your property is private. Those of you who are affected by this law, post signs private property, no trespassing. They cannot go into your home unless it is up to you and they abide by your property rules. They cannot accuse anybody smoking inside their own home unless they can prove it. So by not allowing these people into your home, they cannot prove a thing.
Also, keep in mind, I grew up with a smoker, I also smoke, and there is nothing wrong with me, and I am in my 40's. My father smoked since I was 2 yrs old. So, where is it showing in my health? My health is fine just like a lot of other people around my age who also smoke and grew up with a smoker. It is nothing at all but a big scare to benefit something called control and to force companies out of business and not just Tobacco companies. Native American Casinos are closing due to lack of business due to smoking bans, bars and bar & grills are closing. The social life economy is going downhill while these people like to attack a group of people. It is so sad that our country has to stoop so low to benefit this type of control.
You know, I do not drink alcohol, but I do not try to make law that it should be banned. I have lost love ones due to alcohol, but do not blame the substance, I blame the person who consumes it, but again, I do not make law to ban it. I put up with it and live my life. Alcohol has a lot of side effects where it can also create instant death, again, I do not ban it. If the person is going to do it, the person is going to do it. It is all just to put the blame on something, either it is someone's illness, or someone's death. It is ridiculous and childish behavior. People need to grow up and live their lives. If they do not want something in their home, it is their home, guests must honer it or not go there. Plain and simple. Same for a business, a business owner who ownes the business decides whether to allow smoking in their business or not. If a guest does not like it, go somewhere else. A guest is not forced to stay there, where there are other places to go. Government buildings are different, they are owned by the government. They should have rules to where all people can go to.
So, I feel sorry for the smokers in Belmont, CA. Maybe moving out of Belmont will show the city that maybe they can afford a serious loss of population. When the city gets its census and finds out that they loose benefits due to a large decrease in their population, they might wake up. The safest place for a smoker to live is in the rural township home, away from these people who do not have anything else better to do with their lives but put bans on everything.
Since the smoking ban struck my city, we cannot smoke in any public places, including bars, it does not pertain to private places like homes and apartments, but hallways where there is public are no smoking. I either go out of the city to the rural township bars and social places. Also, I smoke inside my own home, both native American and white man tobacco, and I have parties and invite friends who smoke and those who don't mind smoke. We watch movies, have food & beverage, and socialize. We are not missing the clubs, bars, and restaurants. But they do miss us. The places that get our business are Grocery stores, convenience stores, Tobacco Stores, Drive Thru, Delivery, and carryout places. The other places do not get our business until they learn to stand up and fight back against the smoking ban.
